Life Now

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll probably end up somewhere else.”
Cheshire Cat ~ Alice in Wonderland

High school can be one of the most exciting times of your life. You begin to make decisions on what is needed to achieve your dreams and goals. You have to know where you are now. You have to know where you are going. You need to plan how to get there. What classes are you currently taking? Will they help you reach your goals? Will they help you after high school? Graduation comes a lot sooner than you think.

Start your portfolio or notebook. What will you need to put in it?

  • Assessments
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Testing
  • Certificates
  • Awards
  • Commendations
  • Transcripts
  • Information about your disability
  • Resume
  • Letters of reference
  • Information about work experience
  • Health care information
  • Other information that you, your family or school might want to include

You are thinking about your future. You may already know what you want to be and how to get there. You may need help in finding out where you are now. Or maybe you’re uncertain about the future and you are having a hard time making plans. There are many different assessments you can take to help you find where you are now. You need to understand yourself; your strengths, needs and preferences. You also need to know your disability, how it affects your life, and gather information to make choices about your dreams and goals. Know Yourself and Assessments can give you more information. Use these tools or others your high school may have to help you make decisions.

Learning about people with disabilities and disability history may help you better understand individuals with similar experiences.
